Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, incorporated is a non-profit public service organization with membership of over 250,000 college educated women in over 940 chapters located in the United State, England, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, The Virgin Islands, Bermuda, Jamaica, The Bahamas and The Republic of Korea. Founded over one hundred years ago, in 1913, the organization was established to provide programs promoting human welfare and currently has a five point focus in the areas of Educational development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health and Political Awareness and Involvement.

Chartered in March 2003, the Gwinnett County Alumnae Chapter (GCAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has over 200 members. GCAC is committed to making a positive difference in the Gwinnett community through exemplary service programs that include:
  • Delta Academy/ Delta GEMS/ Embodi - Mentoring and personal development programs for young women and men;
  • Taboo Tea - A program focusing on the health and wellness needs of adult women,
  • 2015-2016 Cotillion Program - an enrichment program for high school junior and seniors who have demonstrated exemplary moral standards and plan to attend to post-secondary school. The program culminates with a formal Cotillion~Beautillion ball in the spring in 2016;
  • Bring The Noise - Psalm 98: A Youth and Young Adult Gospel Choir Competition 
  • - Fundraiser designed to raise money for scholarships for Gwinnett County High School Seniors.
  • Scholarship Program- Signature program that has awarded approximately $40,000 in scholarship monies to high school seniors.
GCAC has also formed an alliance with Partnership Against Domestic Violence (PADV) and participates in the semi-annual AIDS Walk Atlanta & 5K Run, Gwinnett Relay for life and Gwinnett Great Days of Service. Additionally, the chapter supports international relief efforts and holds local political forums, voter registration drives and health fairs.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements: 
All African-American senior young women and men who attend a high school in Gwinnett county, except Centerville, Snellville and Loganville are eligible to apply.

Application Requirements:

  • A completed, signed and dated application submitted electronically.
  • Essay on one of the topics listed on the Essay section.
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation from the following:
  • - 2 Core Academic Teachers
  • - 1 Community Service Leader
  • - A copy of an official high school transcript
Letters of recommendation and official transcript must be mailed together in the same envelope and postmarked by January 31, 2017.

All completed applications will be reviewed and scored by the Scholarship Committee. The top scoring applicants will be granted an interview in April 2017 to determine the scholarship recipients. All scholarship recipients will be notified no later than March 1, 2017.

To avoid disqualification, please complete all of the application requirements and meet the submission deadline.

is asking for your help to bring Christmas to our foster children.


You can help provide holiday gifts and needed items for those we serve by:
  • donating new, unwrapped items
  • organizing a collection of new, unwrapped gifts at your school, church, business, or service group
  • making a financial gift that we can use to purchase items needed for our children
*Our children range from less than one year to 17 years of age. If you would like to donate food items, they need to be non-perishable

PCA LIHEAP

LIHEAP funds will be availible starting November 7, 2016 through local Non-profit for FY 2016/2017 Energy Season to residents of DeKalb, Gwinnett, Rockdale, Newton, and Walton.

Decatur Georgia ---- The Partnership for Community Action, Inc. (PCA) would like to inform eligible clients who live in DeKalb, Gwinnett, Rockdale, Newton, and Walton Counties of available fund from the Georgia Department of Human Resources to provide assistance with heating bills through the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). A portion of the funds are from the Public Service Commission and H.E.A.T. Those that are eligible will be able to apply for this one time heating assistance payment of either $310 or $350 to help with the high cost of heating bills. Eligible clients may only receive a one time payment per program year.

Eligible clients can start scheduling appointments Monday, November 7, 2016 at 8 AM for Senior citizens ages 65 and older and those who are medically homebound who meet the 60% median income guidelines. Please note that all adults in the home must either be over 65 years and older or medically homebound.

Beginning Monday, January 7, 2016, PCA's LIHEAP Program has added the convenience of scheduling Energy Assistance appointments online at http://www.pcaction.org/ or by calling the customer service number at 404-537-4300. Due to high call volumes, we strongly encourage clients to use these valuable systems in the place of walking in to expedite wait times. 

Persons who do not meet the November requirements may apply during the 
general public period starting: December 5, 2016

All potential clients that heat their homes with natural gas, electricity, propane, wood, kerosene, or coal, and meet the income guidelines of 60% of the median household income for Georgia, and are able to provide the following information may apply: 
  • Proof of income for all household members 18 years of age or older for the last 30 days; 90 days if irregular income. If no income, a Zero Income Form will be provided at the time of your appointment. All household members with no income must be present during the appointment time to complete this form.
  • Most recent home heating bill
  • Most recent electric bill
  • Verification of social security cards for all household members or some other legal proof of SS number (Tax returns are not an acceptable document)
  • A secure and verifiable document is needed for the person applying for the household only to prove identity and citizenship
Bring these documents, along with the originals, will expedite wait time at application intake.
